The New Tooth Debate : “Cloning” vs. “Cleaning”

Modern science has achieved many amazing things.  Tissue cloning is one of the more recent advancements.  This area of medicine is just beginning to be developed, with many marvelous medical uses yet to be discovered.  While tissue cloning research is just beginning, the “cloning” of teeth has yet to begin.

Therefore, the teeth that you currently have are the only natural teeth that you will ever have.  And to keep them, you need to take care of them so that they will not contract disease.  The dental profession (and anyone else with teeth) do battle with two basic diseases which are caused by bacteria.  The first disease is tooth disease,  better known as tooth decay or cavities. The second disease is gum disease or periodontal disease, or the disease of the tissues that support the teeth.  Dentists are able to perform many services to control these diseases.  We are even capable of rebuilding teeth and periodontal tissues in cases where the diseases are in advanced stages.  There are many types of man-made materials and techniques used to achieve these amazing claims.  The key to doing battle with these diseases is to be proactive and treat them as early as possible before tooth, gum, and bone are lost forever.  Or at least for the next decade, until we learn how to clone teeth.

Want to Make More Money?

In today’s job market, it is important to continually put our best forward, be that your “best foot”, your “best attitude” or your “best teeth”.  If the eyes are the window to the soul, then the mouth and teeth are the doorway!  It is possible to ruin a job interview or annual performance meeting by having tooth decay, yellow teeth or periodontal disease.  If you want to put your best forward, consider improving your appearance by improving your oral health and physical presentation.  Through proper education, diagnosis and treatment, you can have an award-winning smile that will allow you to attract and influence people like you never have before!  This will improve your chances for advancement in your field which will make you more money.

Can you get Anthrax from your Dentist?

Anthrax is caused from a bacteria which is similar to strep throat.  This bacteria is not commonly found outside of a laboratory.  However, there are many other pathogens more commonly found in the workplace, at home, in hospitals, and even dental offices.   These include common cold and influenza viruses.  However, through proper sterilization and disinfection and by having a clean environment, we are able to live in our homes and work in our offices safely.  Moreover, dentists can perform billions of dental invasive surgical procedures worldwide safely.

In many ways, the dental office is one of the cleanest environments a person can be in.  My staff and I strictly follow OSHA and CDC regulations regarding universal precautions.  Prior to its use, we sterilize every instrument using steam heat and pressure.  We also thoroughly disinfect all of our office surfaces.  We dispose of many items after we use them (and pay to have them taken to a special medical disposal location so this waste doesn’t end up in our local landfills). All of these precautions are designed so that you can be free of concern regarding contracting any type of pathogen in our office, including anthrax.
